Australian heavy newcomers ABSURDA have made their debut with "SPIRIT" while withholding almost every piece of information normally required for a band's introductory biography. No names. No band photograph. Very little history. What is known is that the musicians involved are apparently already experienced within Australia's alternative and heavy-music scene, turning the project into a small musical detective story with significantly better riffs than most police procedurals.

"SPIRIT" is released through Believe International and arrives with a Dreambound-premiered video, combining atmospheric metal-rock with modern metalcore dynamics. The band cite sonic territory associated with Bring Me The Horizon and The Plot In You, although the debut has enough light and shade to avoid becoming a simple exercise in influence matching.

Lyrically, "SPIRIT" turns the aftermath of a relationship into supernatural imagery: somebody escapes but discovers the memory of what happened behaves like a ghost that has declined to respect the change of address. It is an effective concept for a project deliberately presenting itself as mysterious. Anonymous bands are not a new invention, of course, but ABSURDA's decision to launch with almost no identifying material does force attention onto the song itself. More chapters are promised. Until then, Australia's newest heavy band is essentially a very loud witness-protection programme.
