ACL speculation starts heating up with Geese, Amyl and the Sniffers and more in the frame

Festival speculation season is its own strange genre of music journalism, but it can still tell us something useful about where live music energy is moving. New ACL Festival 2026 lineup predictions have started circulating ahead of the expected announcement, with names such as Amyl and the Sniffers, Geese, Skrillex, Smashing Pumpkins and Twenty One Pilots rated among the strongest possibilities. For indie and alternative audiences, the interesting part is not whether every prediction comes true. It is what these guesses reveal about the current festival centre of gravity. Geese and Amyl and the Sniffers represent very different but equally important sides of guitar music’s present tense: one restless and art-rock-inclined, the other raw, loud and crowd-ready. If ACL leans into that kind of mix, it would suggest that alternative music’s live value is still very much alive in the big-field festival economy.
