Alex Sitze turns a loop improv stream into ghostly offline artefacts

Alex Sitze’s fotoplayer || angel number neighbors // 06-06-26 is one of those releases that could only really belong to the current independent music landscape. Released on 7 June, it gathers audio prints from a loop improv livestream, with four long jams tied to the viewing of Within Our Gates from 1920. That context gives the project an unusual emotional frame: live digital performance, old cinema, improvised loops and the afterlife of a stream turned into something listeners can download and keep. The tags move through alternative, ambient, electronica, experimental folk, improv, indie, livestream, long-form and singer-songwriter, which sounds chaotic until you think about how modern DIY music actually works. Artists are no longer confined to albums, gigs or demos. They build little rituals across platforms, then leave behind fragments. Sitze’s release feels exactly like that: part performance, part diary, part spectral soundtrack.
