appi’s Red comb adds Malang cassette-label shimmer to the shoegaze pile

appi’s Red comb lands on 30 June through Gerpfast Record, and it brings a welcome Southeast Asian indie-label signal into today’s batch. The Malang/Yogyakarta cassette-focused label frames the release through tags including dream pop, emo, emogaze, indie pop, indie rock, noise and shoegaze, with Kyoto and Japan also surfacing in the tag cloud. That mixture suggests a record built from haze, melody, distortion and private weather rather than blunt genre lines. Shoegaze travels well because it can absorb local scenes without losing its basic emotional grammar: blur as feeling, noise as shelter, melody as a small light under heavy clouds. Red comb sounds like one of those Bandcamp discoveries that rewards the side-road listener.
