Blood Rhythms flood Sea of Red with a 90-minute experimental pressure system

Blood Rhythms’ Sea of Red is the kind of independent release that feels less like an album and more like a weather event. Released on 13 June through NO PART OF IT, the 90-plus-minute cassette/digital work features a huge cast of contributors, including Jarboe, Leslie Keffer, Emil Beaulieau, Dave Phillips, Hal McGee, Sharkiface and Arvo Zylo. That lineup alone suggests an experimental sound world built from friction, density and strange collaboration rather than neat songcraft. Sea of Red is not trying to be instantly comfortable. It seems designed to overwhelm, smear, pulse and occupy space until the listener stops asking where the chorus is. This is the outer edge of independent music: long-form, physical, noisy, communal and stubbornly outside normal promotional logic. Some records want a playlist add. This one wants a room, a tape deck and surrender.
