21 July 2026 – Body Type Prepare To Keep ‘Tally’

Sydney band <a href="/tags/body-type">Body Type</a> release their third album ‘Tally’ on 24 July, following the immediate energy of ‘Expired Candy’ with a project described as more spacious, deliberate and quietly ambitious. The band’s earlier work often moved with punk urgency, but ‘Tally’ appears interested in what happens when that force is given more room to breathe.

Considered songwriting does not necessarily mean polite songwriting. It can simply mean the sharp edges have been placed exactly where they will cause the most useful damage. As an independent guitar band entering album three, Body Type have reached the point where repeating the debut would be easier but considerably less interesting.

‘Tally’ suggests confidence in restraint, collective chemistry and the knowledge that not every idea needs to sprint toward the chorus carrying a megaphone. The title implies counting, but listeners may need several plays before the final emotional total becomes clear.
