Buckethead’s Mercury Ray Demo beams another strange guitar signal out of Bucketheadland

Buckethead’s Mercury Ray Demo lands on 2 July with the practical casualness of an artist whose catalogue has long since become its own planet. The Bandcamp page keeps it simple: released July 2, 2026, tagged alternative rock, instrumental, rock and Los Angeles. That simplicity is almost funny next to the larger Bucketheadland mythos, where masked guitar virtuosity, endless Pike releases and outsider instrumental worlds keep multiplying without waiting for normal album-cycle logic. Mercury Ray Demo sounds like another signal from that universe: a sketch, a beam, maybe a riff fragment moving through space before becoming something larger or perhaps happily remaining unfinished.
