The newly launched Campus Revival Tour aims to restore free live music to Australian universities while creating paid opportunities for emerging performers and practical training for students entering the music industry. Developed by QUT’s student-led Vermilion Records with support from Creative Australia, the project will run from 2026 to 2028 and connect campuses across several states. Serendipiti leads the inaugural tour, with local artists joining individual dates in Sydney, Brisbane and Wollongong.
University stages once helped launch artists including Grinspoon, The Whitlams, Ball Park Music and The Cat Empire, but that development pathway has weakened as venues close and touring costs rise. The new initiative treats campuses as working music ecosystems rather than places where somebody occasionally positions a speaker beside the student bar and hopes for the best.
