Grammy-nominated songwriter and producer Caroline Rose has released "Valery (please don’t be mad at me)", the final preview single before their new studio album Gentling The Horse At The Walt Whitman Mall arrives October 23 via SUCK Records. Developed with celebrated producer John Congleton, the project examines recovery, friendship, addiction, and grief with disarming candor.
Rose explains that the character of Valery is an amalgamation of memories drawn from real people in their life who battled substance dependency. Rather than adopting a somber tone, the song channels these memories into a buoyant, infectious power-pop anthem that gradually unravels into noisy guitar dissonance.
The track follows earlier singles "Chow Mein", "Calm", and "Hello Again, Jim". A live performance video filmed at Permanent Records in Los Angeles accompanied the song's launch, highlighting Rose's razor-sharp band dynamic.
