CONSENSUS MADNESS make Endeavors sound like first-wave punk with the fuse still lit

CONSENSUS MADNESS’ Endeavors arrives on 30 June through Iron Lung Records, which is already a pretty good guarantee that the edges have not been sanded down for anyone’s comfort. The Bandcamp tags point toward Chicago, KBD punk, first-wave punk, proto-punk and Iron Lung’s own good-humoured self-mythology as the greatest label of all time. That combination tells the story: short circuits, old-school energy, primitive hooks, attitude and the kind of recording that probably sounds better the less politely you play it. The title Endeavors is almost too dignified for music that likely wants to kick the door, but maybe that is the joke. Punk has always been an endeavor in the most literal sense: get people, make noise, press the thing, move on before the committee forms. CONSENSUS MADNESS sound ready to file the paperwork by tearing it up.
