Cornelius announces Refractions with Sean Ono Lennon collaboration Aeons

Cornelius announced Refractions, due 19 August via Eat Your Own Ears, and shared Aeons featuring Sean Ono Lennon. Keigo Oyamada has long been one of Japanese experimental pop’s most precise and playful architects, moving through Shibuya-kei, electronic pop, art-rock, sound design and carefully constructed studio worlds.

Refractions looks like another album built around structure, transformation and small changes inside a larger flow. The guest list includes Sean Ono Lennon, Arto Lindsay, Shintaro Sakamoto and Bid of The Monochrome Set, which already suggests a record interested in international art-pop conversation rather than one narrow lane. Aeons is especially notable because Lennon and Cornelius have a prior creative connection through the Plastic Ono Band orbit.

For a 28 May indie digest, this is a strong art-pop item because Cornelius remains a musician whose work rewards close listening. His songs often behave like design objects that somehow still breathe. Refractions sounds like a fitting title for an artist who has always been interested in light hitting sound at unexpected angles.
