Die Spitz keep moving fast because standing still would probably explode something

Die Spitz get the Stereogum spotlight on 24 June, and the headline says exactly what the band seem to be doing: moving fast. The Austin four-piece have already turned their full-length Something To Consume into a calling card for theatrical, raging, high-energy punk rock, helped along by Will Yip’s production and a run of videos that treat supermarkets, laundromats and literal swords like natural extensions of the band’s personality. What makes Die Spitz exciting is not just volume. It is the sense of young musicians discovering that performance, politics, friendship and bad ideas with good execution can all fuel the same fire. They do not sound interested in cool detachment. They sound like they want the room to sweat, laugh, flinch and maybe reconsider the safety rules. Sometimes momentum is the whole argument.
