End of the Road turns twenty and stacks the forest with Geese, Pulp, CMAT and chaos

End of the Road Festival’s 20th edition now has day splits, and the lineup reads like a very good argument for still getting lost in a field for four days. The sold-out Larmer Tree Gardens event will be headlined across the Woods stage by Geese, Mac DeMarco, Pulp and CMAT, with a wider bill that stretches from Earl Sweatshirt & MIKE to Beverly Glenn-Copeland, Model/Actriz, Bassvictim, Factory Floor and a long list of buzzy smaller names. That range is exactly why End of the Road has survived as more than a boutique nostalgia exercise. It treats indie as a living ecosystem: guitar bands, rap, experimental electronics, comedy, literature, surprise sets and odd little corners where tomorrow’s favourites are probably playing while someone queues for chips. Twenty years in, the festival still seems to understand the main rule: discovery should feel like wandering, not homework.
