British singer-songwriter Erin Bloomer has returned with "ride a cowboy (save a horse)," a playful new single that introduces a country-inspired direction to her established pop sound. The track marks her first release of 2026 and begins a planned series of new recordings extending into spring 2027.

Bloomer previously attracted considerable online attention with "F U & F Her Too" and her 2025 EP Girls Gotta Eat, establishing a reputation for sharp humour, direct lyrics and energetic contemporary pop production. Her latest song takes inspiration from the television series Yellowstone and the romantic mythology surrounding American cowboy culture.

Rather than approaching those influences with solemn reverence, Bloomer transforms them into an intentionally cheeky composition featuring polished production and a spoken-word chorus. The recording was developed with producer Justin Tailor, also known as Hoost, who previously collaborated with her on earlier material. Bloomer has explained that the project offered an opportunity to move beyond the confrontational relationship songs that helped establish her reputation.

The new direction also demonstrates the continuing influence of country imagery on contemporary alternative pop, where traditional genre boundaries have become increasingly flexible. For Bloomer, the important development is the willingness to experiment with a different musical personality while preserving the humour that attracted her original audience.
