British alternative-pop duo Everything But the Girl have announced Blue Reservoir, their eleventh studio album, scheduled for February 19, 2027, through Buzzin' Fly and Virgin Music Group. Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt introduce the project with "Young and Dumb", a new single accompanied by a video filmed at London's MOTH Club.
The announcement follows their successful 2023 comeback album Fuse, which ended a remarkable twenty-four-year gap between studio releases. Whereas Fuse explored contemporary electronic production, Blue Reservoir returns to the more intimate musical foundations associated with the duo's early career. The change developed after Thorn and Watt began performing small concerts at the MOTH Club during 2025. Those appearances reminded them of the creative possibilities offered by direct arrangements built around voices, guitars and a small supporting ensemble.
Watt subsequently purchased a Spanish nylon-string guitar, which became central to the songwriting process. Most of the album was recorded live over ten days at London's RAK Studios, with contributions from double bassist Rex Horan, drummer Evan Jenkins and percussionist Fabio de Oliveira. Their son Blake Watt also appears on two recordings. The album contains ten compositions, including "Forward", "Scala", "Young and Dumb" and "The Great Unknown".
The duo will continue performing intimate concerts during 2027. Their latest project demonstrates that artistic reinvention does not always require increasingly complicated technology. Sometimes the most radical development involves putting away the synthesizers, picking up an acoustic guitar and remembering why the music worked in the first place.
