Faith No More have not given fans a detailed plan, but sometimes one symbol is enough to turn the internet into a detective agency. On 17 June, the San Francisco alt-metal institution posted their familiar octagram over a live crowd with 2027 in the centre, strongly hinting at a return after years of uncertainty. Their last album remains 2015’s Sol Invictus, and planned reunion activity in the early 2020s was derailed by pandemic delays and Mike Patton stepping back for mental health reasons. That history makes the teaser feel heavier than a routine comeback tease. Faith No More always occupied a strange place between alternative rock, metal, funk, art-damaged pop and theatrical chaos, so a return would not just be nostalgia. It would be a reminder that weird heavy music once crashed into the mainstream without asking to be simplified. The octagram is glowing again. Now everyone waits.
