Fernie makes Spherical feel like a clean orbit inside Indefinite Pitch’s deep-techno universe

Fernie’s Spherical is another useful entry from Indefinite Pitch’s Objects In Mirror Are Closer Than They Appear, released on 28 June. Produced by John Fernie and mastered by Brice Deloose, the track title suggests form, orbit, balance and movement without sharp corners. That is a strong conceptual fit for minimal and deep electronic music, where the drama often lives in curvature rather than collision. Spherical sounds like the kind of track that might not announce itself with fireworks, but instead slowly creates a space and then convinces the listener to remain inside it. Indefinite Pitch’s catalogue language leans ambient, deep and hypnotic, and Fernie’s title feels perfectly at home in that system. Some techno is a hammer. This one sounds more like a planet moving patiently through a dark room.
