Irish alternative-rock newcomers Florence Road have released "Wish Upon You," a new single arriving shortly after the completion of their North American tour. The group previously shared standalone track "7563" in August and have been developing an increasingly enthusiastic international following through energetic performances and emotionally direct songwriting.
Their recent American adventure was not entirely trouble-free. Equipment was stolen from their tour van in Los Angeles, forcing the band to rely on assistance from other musicians, including Eddie Vedder, to complete the remaining performances. Fortunately, the experience has not encouraged them to abandon music in favour of a more secure profession.
"Wish Upon You" places Lily Aron's expressive vocals at the centre of an exuberant guitar arrangement, with full-band harmonies building toward an especially powerful chorus in classic indie rock form. The band describe the song as an unexpectedly uncomplicated celebration of being happy with another person. With their international reputation continuing to grow, "Wish Upon You" provides another strong example of the band's ability to combine accessible songwriting with genuine personality.
