The track arrives today alongside confirmation that the band's fifth album will land on 16 October via XL Recordings. Fontaines D.C. have never been particularly interested in remaining where listeners expect them to be: the tense post-punk of Dogrel gradually expanded through A Hero's Death, Skinty Fia and Romance into something much broader.
“Marianne” continues that trajectory with an epic, cinematic scale rather than attempting to recreate an earlier version of the band.
