British electronic-music pioneer Goldie has announced an ambitious exhibition project that will transform part of London's Saatchi Gallery into an immersive celebration of underground music, graffiti, and visual culture. The installation forms part of BEYOND THE STREETS II, running from November 11, 2026, until May 5, 2027.

Goldie's contribution will feature a temporary Metalheadz record shop alongside a video archive documenting approximately thirty years of music videos, short films, and cultural history. The material will be presented across thirty stacks of vintage televisions, creating an installation that connects the visual language of underground music with its historical development.

Metalheadz, the influential drum-and-bass label Goldie co-founded in 1994, played an important role in establishing jungle and drum and bass as internationally recognised musical movements. Goldie's own career began within graffiti and breakdancing culture before expanding into electronic production. His influential 1995 album Timeless helped introduce atmospheric drum and bass to audiences beyond its original club environment. The wider exhibition will also feature contributions connected to Pauline Black, Normski, Janette Beckman, and Pussy Riot founder Nadya Tolokonnikova.

Goldie is additionally scheduled to perform at London's Royal Festival Hall on November 14 with a live band, orchestra, and guest artists. The exhibition highlights the importance of preserving underground culture rather than allowing its history to disappear into forgotten recordings and deteriorating videotapes. Independent music has always been about considerably more than the songs themselves. Apparently the appropriate way to celebrate that history is to fill an art gallery with televisions and open a record shop inside it. Read more club and bass culture in our electronic hub.
