Fremantle five-piece GRUB release their self-titled debut album today through Wing Sing Records, presenting nine tracks of energetic garage rock, dark humour and emotionally direct songwriting.
Fronted by Matilda Beales, the group also features Peter Bibby on drums, Edo Ekic on bass and guitarists Duncan Strachan and Mitch McDonald. Earlier single "Shake It" introduced their combination of abrasive guitars and danceable rhythms, while "Stability Please" examines the complicated optimism accompanying early sobriety in raw garage punk fashion.
Another track, "The Floor," emerged from Beales' experiences during chemotherapy in 2021, transforming an extremely difficult personal period into music that balances vulnerability with determination. GRUB will celebrate the release with a hometown launch at Mojos Bar in Fremantle on October 10.
