Memphis post-punk trio Ibex Clone have announced their third studio LP, Gravity, due November 13 via storied garage-punk institution Goner Records. The announcement is accompanied by the title track, serving as the first advance preview of their follow-up to 2023's All Channels Clear.
Recorded in an unconventional backyard DIY shed with producer Andrew McCalla, Gravity preserves the raw, unembellished fidelity that has won Ibex Clone a dedicated underground following. The single marries chiming, R.E.M.-inspired 12-string jangle with sharp, nervous rhythms and earnest vocal melodies.
The nine-song tracklist includes cuts such as "Imaginary Water", "Wishing Well", "On and On and On", "Myself Is Inside Out", "Delphi's Song", and "Memory Palaces". The band accompanied the release with a live rehearsal video recorded directly on cassette tape and premiered on Bandcamp.
By anchoring their craft in Memphis' enduring tradition of independent guitar music, Ibex Clone demonstrate that authentic underground punk requires only strong chemistry, spirited guitars, and an unfettered DIY ethos.
