Producer and Simian Mobile Disco member James Ellis Ford has released his second solo album, Lost in Another World, through Domino.
The circumstances behind it make the record particularly remarkable: Ford wrote and recorded much of the material in a little over two weeks during early 2025 while undergoing chemotherapy after being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia.
Rather than produce an entirely dark or inward record, Ford has described the music as surprisingly bright, almost functioning as encouragement to himself during an extraordinarily difficult period.
The album follows 2023’s Mercury Prize-nominated The Hum and brings his vast production acumen—known from work with Arctic Monkeys, Depeche Mode, Pulp and Fontaines D.C.—into direct, emotive art-pop.
