Jamie T releases sixth studio album Ghosts (100 Days of Morning) today, returning to the complicated emotional territory that has defined much of his songwriting career. The eleven-track collection follows 2022's chart-topping The Theory of Whatever and examines growing older, lost relationships and the increasingly strange experience of remembering one's younger self.
Production contributions come from Jamie himself, James Dring and Hugo White of The Maccabees, while Damon Albarn appears on "Cocktail." The record also includes "3310," "Chelsea Girls," "Crucible" and closing track "Tallahassee." Ghosts is particularly interesting because Jamie T emerged during an era when British indie rock seemed permanently attached to stories of chaotic nights, questionable romantic decisions and expensive hangovers.
Two decades later, simply reproducing those experiences would risk turning autobiography into historical reenactment. Instead, the new album examines what remains after the excitement has faded and ordinary adulthood has arrived carrying bills and emotional responsibilities. Jamie's writing continues to combine conversational detail with an ability to make personal confusion feel widely recognisable. Growing up is inevitable. Becoming entirely sensible, fortunately, remains optional.
