Japanese-born Canadian singer-songwriter Jonah Yano has announced his fourth studio album Spin, arriving January 29, 2027 through Innovative Leisure. The announcement introduces two new recordings, "Spin" and "Holding On", providing contrasting glimpses into a project that synthesises alternative pop, jazz minimalism, and deeply intimate songwriting.
Yano developed the material between Montreal and the Japanese island of Hokkaido before recording at Port William Sound in Mountain Grove, Ontario. The sessions wrapped in five days, capturing spontaneous chemistry between Yano, his longtime band The Heavy Loop, co-producer Scott Zhang, and engineer Jonah Bonnetta.
The title track "Spin" is a delicate composition that swells into dramatic cinematic textures, while "Holding On" leans into soulful arrangements highlighting Yano's versatile falsetto. The eleven-track collection follows 2024's Jonah Yano & the Heavy Loop.
Having previously collaborated with BADBADNOTGOOD, Clairo, Mk.gee, and Ouri, Yano continues to resist rigid genre boundaries. Yano will also embark on his debut US headline tour in 2027. Read more genre-defying updates in our news archive.
