26 September 2026 – Kitchens Turn Teenage Frustration Into Indie-Rock Escape Route Show Me How

Australian teenage indie-rock band Kitchens have released "Show Me How," turning the universally familiar experience of being young, impatient and surrounded by adults saying things such as 'you'll understand when you're older' into a bright, kinetic original single. The Lennox Head four-piece consists of vocalist and rhythm guitarist Lennox Broadley, lead guitarist Ryan Jack, bassist Oscar Klose and drummer Cooper Adamson, all of whom are still at school. That makes the song's subject rather more convincing than a forty-three-year-old songwriter attempting to remember homework.

Adamson says "Show Me How" addresses both the restrictions and stresses of teenage life and the strange counterweight that arrives as growing freedom brings new responsibilities. Kitchens formed in early 2024 after Adamson and Broadley started playing together, appropriately enough, in a kitchen showroom belonging to Adamson's father's cabinet-making business. Since then they have moved beyond the fitted-cupboard circuit rather impressively, reaching the finals of Sydney's Youth Rock Competition, taking its regional band award and winning the under-18 Battle of the Bands category at Mullum Roots Festival.

A recent appearance at Ballina's Resonator Youth Mic also introduced their originals to another local audience. "Show Me How" is now available through the major streaming platforms, giving a young Northern Rivers band a chance to discover whether the internet can be as enthusiastic as the regional competition judges. At minimum, they already possess one excellent origin story: indie rock assembled between the cabinets.
