K.K. Rampage weaponize bad taste into ugly little noise-rock theatre

K.K. Rampage are not aiming for polite acceptance, and the title I Wanna Be Your Stillborn makes that painfully obvious before the first note even lands. Released on 1 June, the Chicago band’s two-track seven-inch is tagged as noise rock, post-punk, punk and weird pop. This is not music designed to charm casual listeners at brunch. It is abrasive, confrontational and intentionally ugly around the edges. Whether that works for you will depend entirely on your tolerance for punk provocation and damaged humour, but there is still a place in independent music for artists who refuse to sand everything down into brand-safe rebellion. K.K. Rampage seem committed to making a mess, and sometimes noise rock needs exactly that: something uncomfortable enough to remind you that guitars can still be rude, wrong and alive.
