Dublin-born, London-based songwriter Kynsy has returned with "eleanor", a new single that introduces another creative chapter following her 2024 EP Utopia. Kynsy is the recording identity of Ciara Lindsey, whose music combines angular alternative-rock arrangements with an increasingly adventurous interest in electronic production. The new recording examines the uncomfortable experience of becoming fascinated with somebody while already recognising that the relationship is unlikely to end particularly well. Its emotional perspective draws inspiration from teenage infatuation and the reckless romantic behaviour associated with early-2000s youth culture.

Musically, "eleanor" combines brooding guitar textures with fractured electronic elements and melodies that prevent the arrangement from becoming entirely abrasive. The song also represents an important development in Kynsy's production career. Frustrated by the difficulty of finding and financing an outside producer, she began developing the material with members of her live band. Drummer Rory Gilmore, who also records as Body Clinic, and guitarist Tyler Darrington, known as T. Evann, contributed to production.

Kynsy has cited the experimental arrangements of British group Sorry as an important influence on the recording's creative direction. Upcoming performances include Bristol's The Lanes on November 23 and London's Sebright Arms on November 26. The single demonstrates how independent musicians can turn practical limitations into opportunities for creative control.

Apparently the best response to an emotionally disastrous crush is to make an excellent guitar record about it, preferably without having to negotiate an expensive studio budget first.
