Montreal indie-rock project Land of Talk have released two contrasting new singles, "Dogs" and "Cats", accompanied by twin music videos directed by Ana-Maria Espino Trudel. Both tracks appear on their forthcoming sixth full-length album LASTS, due November 13 through Saddle Creek.
Led by songwriter and guitarist Lizzie Powell, Land of Talk channels brooding gothic melancholy on "Dogs", taking cues from The Cure to explore romantic fallout and systemic patriarchal frustrations. Conversely, "Cats" takes a buoyant, anarchic approach, mimicking the chaotic joy of pets roaming unchecked across a studio floor.
The album was recorded in rural Harrington, Quebec, with veteran collaborator Michael Feuerstack handling bass, pedal steel, engineering, and mixing. LASTS follows their celebrated 2023 release Performances.
By balancing raw emotional confrontation with playful instrumental spontaneity, Powell reaffirms Land of Talk's status as one of Canada's most compelling indie outfits. Follow upcoming releases in our news archive.
