Florida-born, Norway-based musician Ledfoot has returned with "Doggone Blues", a new single released on November 6 through TBC Records and highlighted in fresh reporting on November 7. Also known as Tim Scott McConnell, Ledfoot has spent years developing an uncompromising approach to gothic blues, combining traditional American roots music with dark storytelling and distinctive 12-string slide-guitar performances.

The new recording was captured live in the studio, preserving an immediacy that recalls the earliest generations of blues musicians. Its musical influences extend toward Son House and Mississippi John Hurt, although Ledfoot's interpretation belongs to his own darker territory between Americana, folk, blues and alternative rock. "Doggone Blues" provides the first preview of This Ragged Road, his forthcoming album scheduled for early February 2027. It will be his ninth release under the Ledfoot name since establishing the project in 2007.

McConnell's career demonstrates the continuing appeal of musicians willing to maintain a recognisable identity outside contemporary commercial trends. His music generally favours atmosphere, personality and instrumental character over fashionable production techniques, making the recording process itself an important component of the finished sound. The new single also explores the language and humour associated with traditional Southern blues, transforming a relatively harmless expression of frustration into something considerably more dramatic.

Apparently the difference between saying doggone it and performing a proper gothic-blues song is approximately one exceptionally weathered guitar and several decades of accumulated disappointment.
