North London duo Lifeloose have attracted fresh attention today with "07XXXXXXXXX," their second single and a gloriously unserious collision of electroclash, club music and romantic satire. Aldi Ho and Josie Silverman build the track around a punchy electronic bassline and a familiar Motorola ringtone, transforming one of modern life's most irritating sounds into something that might actually improve a nightclub floor.
The lyrics mock contemporary dating culture, particularly the endless talking stages in which everybody appears to be communicating constantly while achieving remarkably little. Lifeloose formed after the pair met at Guildhall Music School, where their backgrounds spanned classical opera and electronic sound design. Their friendship reportedly developed through a shared enthusiasm for dumpster diving, which may be the least glamorous origin story in contemporary electronic pop.
The duo have already supported Fat Dog, RIP Magic and Coupdekat, developing a live reputation built on improvisation, absurd humour and audience participation. Their influences range from early electroclash to underground hip-hop and musical satire. An EP and eventual album are planned, although the pair seem determined not to let excessive professionalism interfere with proceedings.
