14 July 2026 – Long Distance Runner Start At ‘Zero’

West London post-rock group Long Distance Runner release their debut single ‘Zero’, turning a piece originally created to fill time during their first concert into an official mission statement. The track emerged from an improvised rehearsal riff and remained deliberately flexible as the band continued performing it around London’s grassroots circuit.

Rather than locking the song into a permanent structure, Long Distance Runner preserve its heavy, chaotic and euphoric character. That makes ‘Zero’ feel less like a fixed recording and more like a live creature temporarily persuaded to enter a studio. The band have already sold out an early headline show and completed a residency at Dream Bags Jaguar Shoes, building momentum before releasing any official music. Most new groups begin with carefully planned singles and extensive branding. Long Distance Runner apparently began by needing to fill several additional minutes on stage. Sometimes poor time management produces excellent post-rock.
