Love Injection’s 10-year compilation turns New York nightlife into a universal declaration

10 Years of Love Injection: A Declaration of Universal Love gets Bandcamp Daily’s Album of the Day spotlight on 25 June, and the title is gloriously sincere in a dance world that often pretends sincerity is uncool. Compiled by Barbie Bertisch and Paul Raffaele, the collection celebrates a decade of the Love Injection crew’s zines, parties, releases and devotion to the multicultural, polysexual, fiercely independent spirit of New York nightlife. The compilation reportedly travels through modern Indonesian proto-Balearic tribute, Haitian-Canadian and Brazilian collaborations, Japanese samba, Finnish house flute freakouts, Italian synth-disco and grooves that feel connected to the Loft, Paradise Garage, Mudd Club, Body & Soul and Nowadays. That is the point: New York’s dance spirit has always been argument plus communion. Love Injection knows the city is noisy, but inside the groove, the noise becomes a promise.
