Catalan composer Marina Herlop releases Dja Dja today, an ambitious fifteen-track album that continues her exploration of unconventional vocal arrangements, electronic textures and rhythmically complex composition. The project follows 2023's Nekkuja and was developed primarily through recordings made at Herlop's home studio.

She subsequently travelled to Bali to work with local musicians performing gamelan, incorporating additional instrumental colours into the album's elaborate arrangements. Herlop has described the project as resembling an enormous Sudoku puzzle, an unusually appropriate comparison for experimental music in which individual patterns frequently interact in unexpected ways.

Herlop's vocal arrangements sound simultaneously ancient and futuristic, while the rhythmic structures resist conventional expectations, cementing her standing as one of Europe's most adventurous composers.
