International experimental project Meiv have released "No Future Pt. 1 & 2", a new single featuring acclaimed underground hip-hop duo Armand Hammer. The collaboration brings together musicians working across several geographical and stylistic boundaries.

Meiv consists of Tokyo-based artist Curinus, Hong Kong-based musician Eugene Nx and Eugene's daughter Sara Nx. The project introduced itself last month with "Dedeoka", a colourful debut single produced by American electronic musician Body Meat. Their latest recording expands that creative network through contributions from Armand Hammer members ELUCID and billy woods.

"No Future Pt. 1 & 2" unfolds across two contrasting sections, beginning with playful vocal arrangements and unusual electronic textures before developing into a darker and more restrained atmosphere. The structure allows the musicians to explore different emotional and rhythmic environments within a single composition. Armand Hammer have established a reputation for intellectually challenging lyrics and unconventional production, making them particularly interesting collaborators for a project already committed to musical experimentation.

The recording is available through Dom Records and provides another example of independent artists developing international collaborations without relying upon conventional genre boundaries. Meiv's approach combines electronic music, experimental pop and alternative hip-hop in ways that resist straightforward classification. For listeners interested in discovering unusual musical partnerships, "No Future Pt. 1 & 2" offers a particularly intriguing introduction. The title may suggest a pessimistic outlook, but the collaboration itself demonstrates that the future of independent music remains full of possibilities. Apparently geographical distance is no longer much of an obstacle when musicians possess enough imagination and a reasonably functional internet connection.
