13 July 2026 – ‘Menopunks’ Brings Music And Hormonal Justice Together

A new documentary titled ‘Menopunks: Icons For Hormonal Justice’ will unite musicians and cultural figures including Neko Case, Pat Benatar, Allison Wolfe and Peaches. Directed by Alicia J. Rose and planned for release in 2027, the film advocates for fair access to hormonal healthcare and reproductive justice. The project places artists who have spent careers challenging expectations at the centre of a conversation that remains surprisingly absent from much mainstream cultural discussion.

Menopause and hormonal health affect millions, yet are still regularly treated as either private inconvenience or the setup for a bad joke written in 1987. ‘Menopunks’ aims to replace that silence with visibility, lived experience and political urgency. Bringing punk, rock and independent music voices into the subject feels appropriate: these scenes have always offered spaces where bodies, anger and social expectations can be discussed more loudly than polite society might prefer.
