Swedish dream-folk musician Mi von Ahn has released her third studio album Delta Veins, introducing a multilingual collection that explores identity, emotional uncertainty and the relationship between language and personal expression. The album follows two previous full-length recordings and four EPs, continuing a career that has included performances supporting Ane Brun, Loney Dear, Christian Kjellvander and The Soundtrack of Our Lives.
Delta Veins represents the first time von Ahn has written material across several languages within the same album. English and Swedish appear alongside passages in North Sámi, introducing additional cultural and emotional dimensions to her songwriting. Earlier single "Dadjat ii (II)" takes its title from a North Sámi expression meaning to say no. Another preview, "Varje gång vi hörs kan det va för sent", examines the uncomfortable experience of remaining trapped within uncertainty while recognising that an important relationship may be approaching a breaking point.
The album was co-written and produced with Martin Hederos, associated with The Soundtrack of Our Lives and Tonbruket, and Anton Sundell, who has worked with Ane Brun. Their collaboration provides an atmospheric musical foundation for von Ahn's distinctive vocal delivery. Her 2018 debut Signals received a nomination for Best Newcomer at the Swedish Gaffa Awards in 2019, establishing an early indication of her creative potential.
Delta Veins demonstrates that independent folk music can explore cultural identity without abandoning accessible emotional themes. Apparently some feelings are sufficiently complicated that one language simply cannot provide enough words to explain them.
