23 September 2026 – Northlane Unleash Crucified Ahead of Independent Album Anemoia

Australian heavy outfit Northlane have released "Crucified", the third single from their forthcoming seventh studio album "Anemoia", due October 30 as an independent release. Following "Evian" and "CUT_it", the new track is the angriest preview yet, mixing the band's familiar progressive-metal weight with the electronic detail that has increasingly separated Northlane from the endless queue of groups attempting to discover whether guitars can legally be tuned any lower.

Frontman Marcus Bridge says "Crucified" addresses what he sees as the collapse of civil discourse, with disagreement increasingly turning into personal attack and public conversation becoming another competitive sport nobody remembers signing up for. The subject suits Northlane's muscular sound particularly well; this is not exactly a band known for delivering its thoughts over polite brushed drums.

"Anemoia" will arrive at an interesting point in Northlane's career. Releasing independently gives an established act additional control while also removing some of the comfortable machinery traditionally provided by a label. For a band with an international audience and a clearly defined visual and musical identity, however, that freedom may be the more useful resource. "Crucified" comes with a visualizer and provides another indication that "Anemoia" will not be a gentle record. If the album is intended to document modern anxiety and polarization, Northlane have apparently decided subtle background ambience would be an insufficiently realistic soundtrack.
