Long Island indie-rock project Oso Oso have released their sixth studio album an exchange of information through Feral Twin, a newly established independent record label founded by Hop Along drummer Mark Quinlan. Led by songwriter Jade Lilitri, Oso Oso have developed a devoted audience through emotionally direct lyrics, memorable guitar melodies and a distinctive combination of indie rock and melodic emo.

Their latest twelve-track collection follows 2024's Life Till Bones and examines relationships, belonging and the contradictions associated with personal independence. Songs include "4 AM Redemption", "It's All Bait", "The Nights", "The Facts", "Know You Know Me Better", "Wind Me Up" and "She Rides In The Stars". Much of the musical material was developed before recording began, allowing Lilitri and producer Dan Maddalone to complete the core sessions over approximately two weeks at BirthdayLand Studios near Albany.

Additional recording and mixing work followed with Billy Mannino at Two Worlds. The album reconnects with the project's earlier guitar-driven sound while retaining the sophistication developed across previous releases. Its arrival is also significant for Feral Twin, which has been established around the idea of providing focused support for artists rather than pursuing an unnecessarily crowded release schedule. Quinlan's experience as a musician and live-music professional provides an interesting foundation for the venture.

an exchange of information therefore represents both an album release and the beginning of a new independent-business partnership. Apparently the future of independent music may depend less on releasing enormous quantities of material and more on ensuring that genuinely worthwhile records receive the attention they deserve.
