Panda Bear, the musical identity of Animal Collective member Noah Lennox, has announced pb band live 25 at power station, a seventeen-track live album scheduled for December 11 through Domino Documents. The announcement arrives alongside "Take Pills (Live at Power Station)", a new performance of a composition originally featured on his influential 2007 album Person Pitch.
The forthcoming collection was recorded at New York City's Power Station studio during autumn 2025, following the first European touring leg supporting Lennox's Sinister Grift album. That project marked a notable shift toward traditional band instrumentation, encouraging Lennox to assemble a dedicated touring ensemble. The group includes Tim Koh on bass, Rivka Ravede on sampler, Maria Reis on keyboards and percussion, and Tomé Silva on drums, with the musicians also contributing backing vocals.
Animal Collective collaborator Josh Dibb helped develop the arrangements that inspired this approach. The live album includes interpretations of "Ferry Lady", "Ends Meet", "Praise", "Just As Well" and other compositions drawn from Lennox's catalogue. Its purpose is to capture the additional energy and emotional connection created when the material is performed collectively rather than reconstructed through studio production.
Panda Bear has spent years exploring the relationship between electronic textures, psychedelic pop and unconventional songwriting. The forthcoming album provides an opportunity to experience familiar recordings through a different musical environment. Apparently even the most adventurous experimental musician occasionally discovers that assembling a traditional rock band can produce some surprisingly interesting results.
