Amsterdam collective <a href="/tags/personal trainer">Personal Trainer</a> announce their third album ‘Human Assholes’ with the buoyant new single ‘Hole’. The song opens with handclaps and woodwind before jagged guitars arrive to complicate the mood, creating the sort of happy-sounding sad song that smiles while quietly misplacing its grip on reality.

Frontman Willem Smit and the band approached the upcoming album more collaboratively, writing together in the same room instead of constructing everything piece by piece on a computer. That shared spontaneity can be heard in ‘Hole’, which grew from a compact idea into a larger and more unpredictable arrangement after the group discovered an entirely new second half.
