Zurich experimental duo Perverts in White Shirts have announced CULTurally appropriated songs and revisited memories, a 28-track double album arriving 4 September through Misanthropic Agenda.
Nathalie Dreier and Dave Phillips use melodies, texts, field recordings and manipulated source material connected partly to Dreier's upbringing within the Children of God cult.
Other material draws from fringe religious movements and charismatic-leader groups.
Recorded in Zurich between 2024 and 2025, the roughly two-hour work moves through noise pop, electro, industrial and experimental sound while examining indoctrination, belief and manipulation. The extraordinary closing track 'Shangri-La' alone runs for almost half an hour.
