Phoebe Bridgers adds another job title today with "On Video," an original song created for the closing credits of A24 thriller Primetime. Bridgers also appears in the film opposite Robert Pattinson, marking her first substantial feature-film acting role, because apparently releasing a new solo album and touring it was insufficient scheduling.
Directed by Lance Oppenheim, Primetime is inspired by the rise of the television series To Catch a Predator and opens in US cinemas today. Bridgers plays Del Harvey, one of the programme's experienced decoys, while the soundtrack's original score comes from Ari Balouzian. "On Video" was written specifically for the movie and incorporates elements of Balouzian's score rather than functioning as a conveniently attached standalone single.
Musically, the track begins with the hushed atmosphere listeners might expect before expanding into heavier distorted guitar textures and eventually retreating again. That structure makes it feel naturally cinematic without abandoning Bridgers' own indie rock and folk vocabulary. The release follows her 2026 solo album Lost Weekend and has already begun appearing in her live performances. Plenty of musicians eventually try acting. Considerably fewer respond by also writing the song playing while everybody leaves the cinema. Bridgers has apparently decided that if you are going to multitask, you might as well wait for the credits.
