Rotterdam alternative-rock group Library Card have released their debut album Peeling an Orange in Just One Go through AT EASE, introducing an important new recording from the Netherlands' independent guitar-music community. The album follows a period of steady development through live performances and individual singles, including "People Pleaser", released earlier this year.

That composition examines the pressure to suppress difficult emotions in order to remain socially acceptable, reflecting the band's interest in direct personal expression and wider social concerns. Library Card recorded "People Pleaser" at Epic Rainbow Studio with Daan Duurland, who also handled mixing, while Felix Davis completed mastering. The group have approached the debut album's physical release with particular attention to independent-music collectors. Formats include vinyl, compact disc and cassette, with selected pre-orders featuring signed copies, artwork and a lyrics zine.

The release is accompanied by an extensive concert schedule across the Netherlands, Belgium and France. Performances include the Les Indisciplinées festival in Lorient on November 6, followed by Rennes on November 7. Dutch appearances are scheduled for Amsterdam's Paradiso, Groningen's Vera, Rotterdam's Rotown, Utrecht's ACU and several additional venues during December.

The album's arrival provides another opportunity for Rotterdam's independent-music scene to reach an international audience. It also demonstrates the enduring appeal of carefully presented physical releases, even in an industry dominated by streaming. Apparently the most satisfying way to peel an orange in one go may be to play a complete album without allowing an algorithm to interrupt the experience.
