New York alternative-rock quartet SKORTS have announced their forthcoming EP Muse and the Marquee, scheduled for November 13, accompanied by the release of dreamy lead single "Bad Habit". The six-track collection follows their late-2025 debut album Incompletement, which garnered enthusiastic notices across the East Coast underground for energetic guitar hooks and open-hearted songwriting.
SKORTS feature vocalist Alli Walls, guitarist Char Smith, bassist Emma Welch, and drummer Max Berdik. The group formed after Walls relocated from Denver to Brooklyn in 2021, gradually assembling the band through DIY shows and local rehearsal spaces. While their debut captured raw, live-in-a-room urgency tracked across three rehearsal rooms with producer Teddy O'Mara, Muse and the Marquee expands their stylistic palate.
The musicians describe "Bad Habit" as an intentional shift away from abrasive fuzz, leaning into softer, sun-dappled melodies, shimmering guitar choruses, and atmospheric restraint. Other tracks on the EP include "Amy", "Headrush", "Western Skies", "Pretty One (Opposites)", and "Tomorrow Land".
Following an American support run with Brigitte Calls Me Baby and their inaugural UK tour dates, SKORTS will headline a special EP-release concert at Brooklyn's Saint Vitus Bar on November 19, supported by Paper Lady and Truman Flyer. Explore related alternative artists in our indie rock directory.
