Skrillex turns Primavera into a 12-hour SOMA transmission

Skrillex’s SOMA may have landed just before 6 June, but its connection to today’s Primavera Sound programming makes it impossible to ignore. The surprise 13-track album continues his hyperactive recent run, following the 2025 album with the very unprintable title, the Kora and Hit Me Where It Hurts X EPs and a string of collaborations. More importantly for today’s digest, Skrillex is handling programming for a 12-hour Cupra Pulse stage at Primavera Sound on 6 June, turning a festival appearance into a curatorial statement. That matters because electronic music culture is often as much about context and community as it is about individual releases. SOMA gives listeners the recorded object, while the Primavera takeover gives it a temporary physical world: artists, bodies, hours, volume and collective exhaustion. It is not indie rock, obviously, but it is independent-minded electronic event-making at big-stage scale.
