Son Lux announce Out Into and return with Endlessly

Son Lux returned to the indie and experimental music news cycle on 19 May with the announcement of Out Into, their new album due 18 September via This Is Meru and City Slang. The experimental trio of Ryan Lott, Rafiq Bhatia and Ian Chang also shared the lead single Endlessly and announced a wide international tour.

The story matters because Son Lux have spent the past few years operating at a very unusual intersection: art-pop, chamber music, experimental rock, film scoring and large-scale cinematic sound. Their Oscar-nominated work on Everything Everywhere All at Once and later film-score activity brought them to a wider audience, but Out Into looks like a return to the band as a central creative organism rather than a composer collective working around someone else’s images. Endlessly was originally written for the Bluecoats marching ensemble, which already explains some of its sense of motion, architecture and communal scale. The band have described the new album around paradox, energy, color and the sacred quality of first ideas.
