San Francisco quartet starbelliedbug have announced their five-track Lash EP, arriving 25 September through Cherub Dream Records.
Opening track 'crayola car' is out today and introduces the group's mixture of mid-fi dream pop, emo and post-hardcore.
Caitlyn Davis and Chris Reza originally developed the project through home recording before expanding it into a full band with drummer Shaye Hesford and guitarist Hayden Kellam.
That DIY origin remains audible in the track's deliberately textured production, but the combination of urgent drums, layered guitars and haunting vocals gives the song considerably more scale than a typical bedroom recording. Lash also includes 'reverence', 'perfect blue', 'rocket' and 'milkycake'.
