American post-hardcore band Story of the Year and Canadian alternative-rock veterans Silverstein have announced a joint Australian tour for February 2027 under the wonderfully direct title Camp Screamo. The five-date itinerary begins February 5 at Melbourne's Forum before continuing to Sydney, Adelaide, Fremantle and Brisbane. American alternative-rock group Point North will join the tour as special guests, creating a lineup that spans several generations of emotionally intense guitar music.

Story of the Year last visited Australia in 2024 to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of their influential debut album Page Avenue. The band have subsequently continued recording, releasing their seventh studio album A.R.S.O.N. earlier in 2026. Silverstein have maintained an equally substantial career, returning to Australia after their twenty-fifth-anniversary celebrations in 2025. Their recent releases include the companion albums Antibloom and Pink Moon.

Point North represent a younger generation of musicians influenced by the crossover between alternative rock, post-hardcore and contemporary pop production. Their presence provides an opportunity for audiences to discover newer material alongside established favourites. The Camp Screamo concept also demonstrates the continuing commercial appeal of a musical movement once associated primarily with relatively small venues and highly enthusiastic teenagers.

Many of those original listeners now have mortgages, careers and considerably more expensive footwear, but apparently remain perfectly willing to spend an evening shouting along to emotionally devastating choruses. General ticket sales begin October 14. The tour arrives at a particularly interesting moment for guitar music, as younger audiences continue rediscovering early-2000s alternative rock, detailed in our punk and heavy music coverage.
