Australian concert promoter Frontier Touring and Melbourne Park have announced SUPAGLOO, a new quarterly concert series designed to introduce younger audiences to emerging Australian musicians. The initiative will launch December 10 at MCA at Melbourne Park, with an opening lineup featuring electronic-pop duo 2charm, Melbourne trio Blusher, performer Robert Baxter and a DJ set from triple j Breakfast presenters Abby and Tyrone.
A second event is scheduled for April 2, 2027, featuring contemporary R&B artist Larissa Lambert alongside ZIPPORAH and DJ 1SA. Organisers intend to develop the series around school and university holidays, making the concerts accessible to younger listeners who may not yet be able to attend conventional licensed venues. The all-ages approach is particularly important for independent music scenes, where many emerging performers depend on smaller venues that frequently operate under age restrictions.
SUPAGLOO also offers a dedicated platform for developing musicians rather than positioning them exclusively as opening acts for established international stars. The inaugural lineup reflects Australia's increasingly adventurous electronic-pop community. 2charm have worked with producer Ninajirachi, while Blusher have developed an international following through energetic performances and touring opportunities. Robert Baxter brings additional influences from club culture, fashion and performance art.
The series takes its name from a song by Australian alternative-rock band Magic Dirt, connecting the new initiative with an earlier generation of independent music. Tickets are priced at AUD 49.90, with presales beginning October 16 and general sales scheduled for October 19. Discovering the next big thing may finally involve attending a concert rather than waiting for an algorithm to explain what everybody else already likes, as highlighted in our indie pop scene updates.
